• HISTORY
For unbeknownst reasons I became sucked into this series known as 'Bleach'. A few years ago one of my friends asked me whether i read 'Bleach', i replied by saying 'no, but i've heard of it before. Maybe i'll read it later'. A few years after, another friend told me that Bleach was made into an an anime,
and i went 'Bleach? wasn't that the series ... ooohhh..'. The first episode was rather tacky, the music turned me off. The second episode was iffy. So, I decided to read the manga when I had spring break. In a timespan of less than 48 hours, I finished reading all 168 chapters which were released at the time.
One thing i'm particularly fond of about my Bleach projects, especially this one, is that i've met alot of great people through it.
Ukitake.org?
Ironically, this is the namesake for my Bleach domain,
Ukitake.org but it isn't hosted there until almost a year after. The reason was because I can't get site stats for Ukitake.org, but I guess now i'm sucking it up?
Of all things, why Ukitake? Personally, of all the people in the Soul Society, Ukitake seems the most 'heart' and the most 'human'. I have no idea what attracted me to him though. One of my friends, who will remain unnamed, at first told me that Ukitake was pretty boring
and that there wasn't much about him. Unforunately she is very wrong.
I've noticed a trend when I buy domains. It is usually before I have a huge exam of some sort. Ukitake.org was bought on March 20, 2005
by accident. Or rather, it bought itself for me using my credit card. I was talking to my friend,
Arashi,
at the time and like whenever i talk to her i get giddy. Whenever i get giddy i do stupid things. The exam i had was a Japanese midterm which was on March 21st. I
apparently did fairly well on it.
Why Aegrus?
I actually had a hard time thinking of a name for this Ukitake fansite. I wanted Kubo Tite
to unveil the reasoning behind Ukitake's sickness, why, and how he got it. I was waiting for that time to come, about two weeks (sad!), but eventually gave up
when i decided that Kubo Tite is probably going to tell us, or maybe not even tell us, in another hundred chapters. The list of names also included Infirmus, Politics of Pride, and 'The Ultimate Ukitake Bunny Site of Doom' (but in sticky caps).
So i settled with Aegrus.
Aegrus is a latin word meaning 'ill, diseased, unwell'. It's an interesting name for Ukitake site, but it doesn't exactly describe my thoughts on him. Personally, i think he is more than his illness and pride.
The Politics of Pride?
The Politics of Pride is the secondary name of
Ukitake.org. Since
Aegrus moved to
Ukitake.org it also adopts that name. Now, isn't that confusing? This site runs on three names : Ukitake.org, The Politics of Pride, Aegrus.
Please do note that
The Politics of Pride is only used for sites hosted on the domain.
My goal for this site
My goal for
Aegrus is to make the most complete (perhaps not media wise), unbiased, and informative Ukitake site. That sounds rather farfetched, but I seem to like Ukitake's character quite a bit. Now, does my like for Ukitake rival that of my all time favorite manga/anime character, Ryousuke Takahashi of Initial D? Perhaps.
Why Ukitake?
Why should a Ukitake obsessor explain why she likes Ukitake? It's because Ukitake is Ukitake. Being a big fan of shounen, why not? He has white hair...?
He, like many other characters of the Soul Society, are seen to be under rated and do not have enough of a role in the story line. Especially Ukitake. He did alot of things behind the scenes while Ichigo and Co. were trying to find Rukia.
Also, he seems to be the most confrontable captain of all thirteen divisions. For example, if you were to ask directions from someone, would you rather ask Mayuri or Ukitake? My answer would be Ukitake because Mayuri is just simply scary.
Another reason, is that visually, he was one of the first characters who struck me as 'interesting'. That image of him standing there with his zanpakutou seemed rather enthralling to me because of my little sword obsession. Also how can anyone resist Ukitake's 'wtf' look? Other characters of Bleach who i am also fond of
include Kuchiki Byakuya (!!!), Kyouraku Shunsui, Aizen Sousuke (!!!), and Asano Keigo.

Current Layout
What you see here, is the result of war games and evolved sworls. This layout, i tried doing more of grunge rather than solid colors which i'm usually accustomed to. Recently i've been seeing alot of layouts made with swirly brushes, so i decided to make my own swirls without brushes. That is what you see on the top
left of the layout. The rest of the layout was made with old brushes i made a few years ago. I really should make a new set, but then it's sort of nice knowing what the brushes you have can do. You're familiar with them, so you don't have to test them out. Also, it's always nice to see what other things they can
do other than what you usually do with them. You may notice streaks on the background of the text you're reading, that was entirely deliberate. I was looking around on random music sites and noticed the background for
ART-SCHOOL (which is a pretty good jindie band, mind you)
and was sort of inspired by that. I thought it'd be interesting to have a grunged up text background, so here it is. As for the navigation and such, you may notice that i recycled an idea from my primary domain,
Flora-Fleur.net. Then again, i usually recycle things. Yay for that!
If this layout were to be inspired by anything else, it'd be the '70s style sofa found in my aunt and uncle's house. I haven't seen that thing for ages...
