• VOICE CLIPS
Here are a few Ukitake and Ukitake related voice clips from the anime. The seiyuu for Ukitake is none other than Ishikawa Hideo (石川英郎). For more information about the seiyuu please visit the seiyuu page. All files are in .wav format unless noted. They can be played in programs such as WindowsMedia and Winamp.

Ishikawa Hideo as Ukitake Jyuushirou
After reading so much Bleach manga, I initially found it odd for the characters to be voiced in the anime and Hideo not being suitable for Ukitake's voice, but he proved me wrong.

» "The fight for life or pride" - Episode 09, Rukia's flashback of Ukitake's speach about 'the fight for life and the fight for pride' while she is watching Ichigo fight the Grand Fisher. Compared to the OVA version, this is more rushed.

» Memories in the Rain OAV - The OVA version of Ichigo's fight with the Grand Fisher which seems to follow the manga more than the anime. This clip is of Ukitake's 'the fight for life and the fight for pride' speach.

» "Fuu, that was scary..." - Episode 41, When Ukitake stops Byakuya as he is getting ready to attack. I'm all for the ふうっ (fuu) part of this voice clip. ふうっ is also in the manga too.

» "Oh, kuchiki! You've lost weight! How are you feeling!?" - Episode 41, Ukitake salutes Rukia who is in that scene still stunned by him suddenly appearing. You can really tell that Ukitake cares for his subordinates. If you were in Rukia's position in this scene, how would you answer Ukitake?

» "Byakuya, who is that?" - Episode 41, Ukitake stunned by the similarities between Ichigo and the late Kaien.

» 雷悉く我が刃となれ ~ 双魚理! - Episode 56, This is the chant Ukitake does to have his zanpakutou, Syougyou no Kotowari (双魚理), released to shikai form. For it to be released in shikai form, Ukitake says "Nami kotogotoku waga tatetonare, ikazuchi kodokodoku, waga yaiba tonare! Sougyou no Kotowari!" (波悉く我が盾となれ雷悉く我が刃となれ). For more information on Ukitake's zanpakutou, please visit the zanpakutou page.

Ishikawa Hideo in Other Works
Here are a few clips of Ishikawa in Naruto. He plays Uchiha Itachi, the older brother of Sasuke. As you can see, this is my sad excuse to do something Itachi related because I keep on avoiding my ideas of making a Itachi site.

» Naruto 127 - 128 - After doing some practicing, Itachi and Sasuke goes home - "Sasuke, let's go home".

» Naruto 129 - During Sasuke's flashback, this the scene when he asks Itachi about what relation the Uchiha family has with the Konoha police. You may also notice that the seiyuu for Sasuke is the same as Ishida in Bleach.

» Naruto 131 - Itachi's thoughts on Sasuke's actions after the foreboding event that happened earlier.

» Final Fantasy 7 : Advent Children - It came to a suprise to me after I watched the movie when I read that the seiyuu for Cait Sith was Ichikawa Hideo. It just doesn't sound like him. This is just another example of how great Ichikawa is as a seiyuu. My favorite singer doing the image song for this movie, Ukitake's seiyuu doing a voice in this movie, and the theme of the movie being one of my favorite games when I was younger. It's a sign!

» 戦国無双 2 - Ishikawa Hideo in Sengoku Musou 2 as Hideyoshi Toyotomi. There was a change in seiyuu for this character in the game series. The first game had a very nasaly sidekick Hideyoshi, and this one a more "'down to earth' happy 'your next door neighbour' future somewhat ruler of Japan" one. Perhaps that was a odd explaination. Anyway, for those who are interested, historically 茶々 (chacha) is Hideyoshi's concubine, and in the game ねね (nene) is the name of his first wife.

» Xenosaga Series - In the Xenosaga series Ishikawa plays the role of Kevin Winnicot the Red Testament and the creator of KOS-MOS. If you had no idea that he was Red Testament. Funny how Ishikawa appears in yet another one of my favorite series? What a creepy coincidence. This clip is from the last installment of the Xenosaga series, Episode III: Also sprach Zarathustra.

» NBA TODAY - Ishikawa-san as a basketball game announcer. This makes me laugh whenever I listen to it because it sounds nothing like Ishikawa. This clip is from the Aoni Production site and is in mp3 format.

Ukitake related
Here are Ukitake related clips. I think the only thing that'll be in this section will just be clips of Kon and his Shinigami guide blurbs.

» Kon's Ultimate Illustrated Shinigami Guide - This is Kon's little blurb about Ukitake which was featured at the end of episode 20 of the anime. Kon's seiyuu is Madono Mitsuaki (真殿光昭).

» BLEACH Episode 55 Preview - The irrelevant episode previews Bleach is infamous for. Here we have a short conversation with Ukitake, Shunsui and Yamamoto Genryuusai Shigekuni (or otherwise known as 'Yamajii') inregards to how Yamajii can transform his body so quickly. Ukitake is the one who asks the question, and as the conversation progresses Yamajii admits that it is due to practice. However, Shunsui suggests that Yamajii should perhaps consider taking care of his hair more.
